GLASGOW Life could be forced to pay out as much as £15,000 after union members at a city facility won a long-running dispute.

Unite members at the Emirates Arena were victorious through Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas) over work payments.

A decision was found in favour of Unite’s claim that its members at the Emirates Arena had ‘work in context’ payments unfairly withdrawn and they should be reinstated by Glasgow Life who operate the arena.

Unite's James O’Connell said: "The arbitration outcome confirms they have been right all along and Glasgow Life should be ashamed of themselves."

Since November 2017, around thirty Unite members in the Emirates Arena have periodically undertaken strike action. They will now receive these payments backdated to April 2018, which will amount to around £500 for each worker.

A spokesman for Glasgow Life, said: “We are pleased that this decision brings this long-running dispute to a close. We will look to resolve any outstanding issues as soon as possible."
