A MISSING cat was driven around the city after getting stuck in a car’s grill.

Owners James Hamilton and Tammy were devastated when their cat, Bacon, went missing on Friday.

But now, the Seven Dials pair are jumping for joy following her safe return after a city-wide adventure.

James said: “We are overwhelmed really. We had very little hope especially with the cat killer having stabbed a cat on Friday.”

Unknown to her owners, the Bengal cat had climbed into a parked car in the Seven Dials and became stuck in the front grill. The driver then travelled 15 minutes across town to Bevendean – more two miles away. Panicked residents in the area alerted the driver after they heard Bacon’s cries from the car’s grill.

But heartbreak stuck again because when the vehicle’s grill was pulled apart to free her the terrified moggy ran away from her rescuers. She went missing for a further four days before she was found.

James and Tammy were finally reunited with their beloved pet on Wednesday evening after a man found her “chilling with his dog”.

Bacon has lost some weight during her adventure. But James said “she was a little fatty before, so no harm done”.

Posting on facebook, he said: “Bacon was reunited with us thanks to the incredible amount of support we had from, not only the Brighton and Hove community, but people round the country (and world) asking others to pass the message on. Thank you everyone again for all your relentless support.”

“We are just really pleased that there are people kind and honest enough to help.”
