Here's what our readers had to say about this week's news

Let us have Indyref2

I HAD to laugh at the statement that the

UK Government in Westminster “would not allow” a second vote to take place.

Does that not say it all? We are not a bunch of school children here in Scotland who need scolded by the head teacher.

Why anyone would want to deny their country the opportunity to run their own affairs like so many other thriving, independent countries just escapes me.

Do they think we are incapable of creating a prosperous country for future generations, freed from the shackles of Westminster?

Do they think we are too stupid to run our own affairs?

Why are they so afraid to finally let go?

This is the write move

WITH regards to the story on pensioners being hit due to Universal Credit change (Evening Times, Friday), I’m not sure why this MP is highlighting this issue because any responsible government would be writing to those affected by this change.

The Government has written to these people, hasn’t it?

Foodbank action needed

I AM a SNP supporter but the Scottish Government really needs to take a stand on this (Record number of Scottish people using foodbanks, Friday).

Either get rid of Universal Credit for Scotland or put things in place so people

are not suffering at the hands of the Tories any more.

Crack down on thieves

I WASN’T surprised to read about the number of vehicles stolen in Glasgow last year (Evening Times, Friday).

The police need to clamp down on this because it’s a disgrace these thugs get away with it.

Shut stadiums for abuse

I’M disgusted by the rise in racial abuse in British football. The governing bodies must shut stadiums if this sort of behaviour continues.
