PLANS for a new transport system spanning much of Greater Glasgow have been revealed in a new report.

Phase two of the Connectivity Commission will launch today.

Written by Professor David Begg, a former transport advisor to the UK Government, the paper argues massive change is needed to revolutionise transport across Glasgow.

Rail links stretching from Paisley in the West to Easterhouse in the East, as well as Newton Mearns to Bishopbriggs, are part of the grand plan.

Other proposals, such as tram systems across the city, are part of ambitious and costly infrastructure projects put forward as the solution to a better 21st century public transport system.
