A GLASGOW charity has suffered a blow to its services after being the victim of a vandalism attack on Monday night.

Glasgow the Caring City's warehouse on Govan Road was hit by a perpetrator at around 8pm, with significant damage done to both of their vans.

As a result the vehicles will be out of use whilst repairs are carried out, meaning service users across the city will not receive parcels for much of this week.

The charity's Ross Galbraith said: "We found a chap breaking into a van and attempting to get into our warehouse.

"Both of the vans were extensively damaged.

"We don't have the customer base or budget to absorb this. We are now off the road for a few days and will have a financial loss.

"It doesn't seem right to ask the public to pay for mindless vandalism.

"We have teams in our warehouse sorting donations but we won't be able to bring these in as we have had to postpone donations.

"In the same respect, our volunteers have no resources to pack so no material aid will be going out to families as a result of this."

The group have claimed they do not believe this was a targeted attack, but offered help to those across the city who turn to crime.

Ross added: "We are realistic, this was not a targeted attack. The grievance we have is for our service users.

"They are going to be struggling this week at a time when demand is quite high.

"The thing is, for the people in this city who feel the need to turn to crime, there are charities like ours who can help.

"If the individual had knocked on the door and asked, we could have been able to help."
