THE route and road closures for the funeral of Celtic legend Billy McNeill today have been revealed. 

McNeill led the Hoops when they defeated Inter Milan to win the 1967 European Cup and was captain for nine successive titles as well as seven Scottish Cups and six League Cups. 

Large crowds are expected to line the streets to pay respects to the great man, with a number of roads restrictions being put in place as a result. 

Between 10am and 2pm on Friday, May 3, five streets in the city centre will see closures.

Due to the expectation of large crowds paying their respects, the following roads will be restricted for the safety of those attending the funeral of Billy McNeill.

The Lisbon Lions' captain died on April 22, with his funeral to take place within the Roman Catholic Church of St Aloysius on Rose Street, Garnethill this Friday from 11.30am. 

The funeral cortege will then head to Celtic Park for around 1.30pm, where thousands of fans will be given the chance to pay their respects to 'Cesar'.

Rose Street itself will be clsoed between Renfrew Street and Buccleuch Street from 10am. 

Parts of Hill Street (between Cambridge Street and Scott Street), Dalhousie Street (between Renfrew Street and Buccleuch Street), and Renfrew Street (between Dalhousie Street and Rose Street) will also be shut off to vehicles. 

The one way system on Garnet Street between Sauchiehall Street and Renfrew Street will also be removed. 

All closures and disruption are expected to be complete by 2pm.
