A WOMAN was left shaken after being robbed in broad daylight in a busy Renfrewshire street by a "scruffy" looking man.

The 23-year-old victim was approached by a man in McKenzie Street, Paisley, on Thursday morning at around 9am.

Police say the suspect pestered her to buy alcohol before he snatched money from her hand and was last seen running towards the Nisa Store in the street.

He is described as being aged in his late 30s to early 40s, about 5ft 8 inches tall with dark shaved hair.

He was scruffy looking with a fresh cut on his forehead above his left eye and was wearing dark green tracksuit bottoms

Detective Constable Jennifer Piggott, from Paisley CID, said: "Although uninjured, the woman was left shocked as a result of the incident and I am urging anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the robbery to get in touch with me.

"The area would have been busy at the time with parents dropping their children at school and other people making their way to work."
