TRIBUTES are being made to a young dad who has been killed after a horror motorcycle accident in Ibrox.

The 26-year-old was travelling east along Govan Road, near Canting Way, on a black coloured 125cc KSR Moto at around 5pm on Sunday when he lost control and struck a kerb, causing him to come off.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The man has since been named locally as Phil McCloy.

Heartbreaking tributes to the doting father have been flooding in on social media.

One said: “Such a cruel world. Thinking of all Phil’s family at this sad time, especially his two girls… He was one of the nicest boys. Never walked past without a hello. Sleep tight. Watch over your girls and family. Gutted for them all.”

Another said: “RIP, Phil McCloy. Taken far too soon… Sad time.”

“My heart is breaking… Thoughts are with Phil’s friends and family. Rest in peace, Phil,” read another.

One touching message said: “Heartbreaking. Can’t believe it. RIP, Phil. You really were one of the good ones. You were such a good soul with a big heart. You have left a lot of broken hearts. Sending love and strength to your girls...and the rest of your family.”

One pal of the family wrote: “World's too cruel. Nothing anyone says will even come close. I'm absolutely gutted and heartbroken for every single person close to Phil. RIP, Phil. Rest easy and watch over both your girls. Love yous.”

“Can’t believe the sad news we got yesterday that Phil McCloy had been taken away so suddenly. Thinking of my niece...and also the McCloy family. Will always remember our wee chats about the apple of your eye...and your big smile every time I spoke to you. RIP, Phil. Watch over your girls.”

Police have been appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Jon Mochan, of the Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “We are trying to establish exactly what caused this motorcycle to lose control and are appealing to anyone who may have seen the bike prior to the incident taking place, or may have dash-cam footage from Govan Road near to 5pm.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police via 101, quoting incident number 2845 of Sunday 5 May 2019.”
