A VINTAGE mirror valued at hundreds of pounds will be one of the star prizes up for auction at a cancer charity ball this weekend.
Glasgow artist and interior designer Julia Sagias has donated the beautiful antique to help raise money for Maggie’s cancer caring centres.
Julia, who is based in Shawlands, said: “I’m pleased to support charity events by donating high value items that can help raise funds for important causes.
“I hope the mirror finds a good home through the auction and helps to raise money for Maggie’s.”
Julia, 34, has helped to transform homes across the city since establishing her business 18 months ago.
The Glasgow University History of Art graduate has worked with a number of Scottish art galleries, art boutiques and designers. Her work can be found at the Seagull Art Gallery in Gourock and Finnieston’s The Shop of Interest.
Maggie’s Spring Ball, at the Radisson Blu on Saturday, will be hosted by Kirsty Wark and supported by the Wiseman Family Charitable Trust. A limited number of tickets, priced at £100 each or £1000 for a table of ten, are still available.
The evening includes a drinks reception, three course dinner, exclusive auction items and a night of live music and dancing. Funds raised will help the charity support the thousands of people who receive a cancer diagnosis each year bringing tough questions, exhausting treatment and difficult emotions such as loneliness and isolation.
Evening Times readers raised £1.2m to fund the first Glasgow Maggie’s Centre at the Western Infirmary. The centre, which provides emotional support and practical advice, is now based at Gartnavel Hospital in the west end.
