Street artists from around the world are set to descend on Glasgow for the third annual Yardworks Festival this weekend.

SWG3 will be hosting the event celebrating live and curated graffiti art.

Using SWG3’s buildings, surrounding streets and walls as their canvas, more than 100 world-class artists will take part, including leading Scottish artists Smug, Rogue One and Mark Worst.

The festival will be held in the Galvanizers Yard - the city’s largest legal graffiti site and will see more than 700 metres of wall space transformed with displays of vibrant artwork. It is expected that more than 400 shades of paint and 800 litres will be used over the course of the weekend.

Running alongside Yardwork’s live graffiti will be a number of workshops and music performances, as well as a custom-built Montana Cans pop-up shop and 13ft-high skate ramp from Clan Skates. Slater Menswear will also be on site with a pop-up customisation station for anyone wanting to spruce up their old suits.

What you need to know:

Where is the event?

Yardworks Festival will take place at SWG3, Glasgow's leading multi-discipline arts venue located in Glasgow's Yorkhill area, just a ten minute walk from Finnieston strip. Over the course of the event, more than 100+ artists will transform SWG3’s buildings, surrounding streets and walls, but the main action will take place in the outdoors Yard and inside in the sweeping Galvanizers warehouse.

How much is a ticket?

An adult ticket is £5.00 and you can pay on the door, or book online in advance here. The good news is that Under 16's and local residents go free, so if you have yourself a G3 postcode, all you need to do to redeem your free ticket is show up on the day with proof of address.

What can I expect to see?

Over the course of the two days, you can expect to see a blank canvas - 700 metres of black wall space - transformed into a spectacular array of murals by more than 100 artists from the UK, Europe and the US. From traditional New York style tagging to more contemporary lettering and sign painting, the full spectrum of street art styles will be on show - starting from the beginning of Eastvale place, heading into the Yard and throughout a purpose-built maze located within the Yard.

Is it kid friendly?

Yes! Not only do Under 16's go free, but baby disco supremos Mini Manoeuvres will be in attendance on Sunday with special guest, DJ Bonzai Bonner - and if you purchase a ticket for this, you get free entry to Yardworks. There will also be a dedicated kids "creation station" zone all weekend, as well as FREE skateboarding lessons (for over 8's) courtesy of Clan Skates. One-hour lessons will be offered between 11am and 4pm on both days, but must be booked in advance via their Facebook page.

What else is on offer?

Running alongside the event’s live graffiti and street art, there will be a number of workshops and musical performances, as well as cocktail bars, a custom-built Montana Cans pop-up shop and a 13ft-high skate ramp. Food will also play a big part of the weekend, with a number of Glasgow's leading street food superstars being on site to serve up their scran: MAD LAB, Nomad Wood Fired Pizza, Firedog, Tantrum Doughnuts and Julie's Kopitiam.

Yardworks takes place this Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May from 11am until 8pm.
