A Glasgow school is set to be extended more than a year after it was damaged by a fire.

Scotstoun Primary School, on Duncan Avenue, will be extended with alterations being made to the annexe building.

The additions will include three classrooms, a multi-purpose hall, kitchen, break-out space, changing facilities, toilets, office and plant room.

Following a fire in late 2017, part of the annexe building was demolished.

The building housed the kitchen, gym hall and changing facilities.

Since the fire, temporary accommodation has been located on the blaes pitches to provide a kitchen / dining facility.

As previously reported by our sister title the Clydebank Post, parents claim current facilities are 'unsuitable' as their children are crammed into a tiny basement area for lunch and gym sessions.

The remaining portion of the annexe building contains two classrooms which must remain operational throughout the construction period.

A report by the planning department states: “The proposed extension would be innovative in its design, being both functional and appropriate in its relationship with the existing school building and grounds.

“It would be a harmonious addition to the existing school site and would preserve the special character and appearance of the [Scotstoun] Conservation Area.”
