Shoppers in Glasgow city centre were rushed out of a shopping complex on Friday afternoon after reports of a fire. 

Staff and members of the public at the Savoy Centre raised the alarm after a blaze broke out at an electrical junction box on nearby Renfrew Street at around 3.30pm. 

Three fire engines attended the scene, with the entire centre evacuated while fire fighters investigated internally.

However, no casualties or fires were detected and the centre reopened. 

A spokesman for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "This was a small fire at an electrical junction box next to the Savoy Centre. 

"The centre was evacuated as a precaution.
