A GROUP of employees from a local contact centre recently presented the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity (GCHC) at the Royal Hospital for Children with a donation of £500.

Engagement Ambassadors from global outsourcer, Webhelp, visited the hospital earlier this week to present the charity with the cheque after a fundraising event at their Glasgow Hope Street site. The GCHC supports over 173,000 patients each year and was chosen by the Glasgow team because of the incredible work they do with youngsters and their families.

Michelle Gillespie, Head of Site at Hope Street said: “We first got involved with the GCHC a few months after our site opened after a member of our team nominated the charity to receive the money we raised over Christmas from a dress down event.

“I spoke with some of the fundraising team at GCHC to understand more on the work that they do and then passed the information on to our colleagues who were keen that where possible, we support a local charity and GCHC was the choice.”

During the visit to the hospital, the team from Webhelp were given a tour of public areas including several playrooms, the onsite cinema and the Sanctuary, which is an area for quiet reflection for patients and their families.

A poignant moment during the visit was when they were shown the Teddy Hospital where youngsters get advice on what treatments they'll receive via the use of teddy bears.

Glasgow Times:

Kris Conway, Team Manager and Site Lead for Employee Engagement at the Hope Street contact centre is confident his colleagues will participate in future fundraising events for the charity: “In total, we’ve raised £1,000 for them so far and everyone is really keen to keep doing more.”

Webhelp has also sponsored one of the sculptures on the Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail that will be popping up in cities across Scotland from June. The sponsorship is in partnership with Glasgow Children's Hospital.
