A MUM who was attacked in the face by a cancer sufferer while holding a five-year-old said the boy has been “traumatised” by the ordeal.

Lynn Middleton, 47, admitted to the assault when she appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday.

She attacked Jennifer Macphail in Bargarran Square, in Erskine, on December 14 last year.

Middleton, who lives in the town, admitted assaulting Jennifer by striking her repeatedly on the face and head while she was holding a child, leaving her injured.

Last night Jennifer, 27, said: “The incident has affected the boy badly.

“He has basically been left traumatised.”

Middleton, who has been treated for bowel cancer, was cleared of two other assaults on Jennifer and a five-year-old child.

Jennifer, also of Erskine, said the lad now suffers from anxiety and nightmares following the attack.

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew warned Middleton she could be caged over the assault when sentenced next month.

At an earlier court hearing Middleton’s lawyer said the case had been delayed in coming to court because Middleton had been receiving treatment for bowel cancer.

Jennifer continued: “I was carrying a five-year old and she still attacked me regardless.

“He was screaming the place down.

“The worry of it all has affected my health.

“I’m glad this is all over now but I think she should get something for what she’s done.”
