A MOBILE phone app has been created that allows Glaswegians to embelish their texts with some of the city's best loved phrases and buildings.

Iphone users can opt to add in animated phrases including; taps aff, baltic, gaun yerself, heavy raging and ye weapon although the app isn’t suitable for children as some of the sayings contain expletives.

Mobile phone users also have the option to add images of popular Glasgow landmarks including the Duke of Wellington statue and his ever present traffic cone, the subway and the Titan Crane as well as areas of the city including Govanhill and Maryhill.

The app costs 99p and was created by Bence David, who is Hungarian and is now looking at a version for Android phones and others focussing on the dialects of other Scottish cities including Edinburgh.

He said: "I was excited to move to Glasgow, as it’s famous for having a strong and unique character. Glasgow Times:

“I feel I have been here long enough to create the best overheard, local patter.

“It’s cheeky, fun and honest like Glasgow is in my experience.
