THE areas of Glasgow where the most crimes have been recorded have been revealed.

The Evening Times has analysed statistics released by Police Scotland to find out which council ward experienced the most crimes in the past 12 months.

Between April 2018 and March 2019, the most recent time period for which data is available, Glasgow saw more recorded crimes than any other council area in Scotland with nearly 20,000 offences were committed. Of these, around 4,000 were of a violent or sexual nature.

The Anderston/City/Yorkhill ward saw 672 such crimes recorded, including, 183 serious assaults, 140 sexual assaults and 42 rapes.

Calton ward, in the East End, were second in terms of the number of such crimes, with 328 taking place. This included more than 50 serious assaults and seven attempted murders.

Meanwhile, fewer than 100 violent or sexual crimes took place in five wards: Langside, Partick East/Kelvindale, Baillieston, Newlands/Auldburn and Victoria Park.
