Officers are investigating a sexual assault and indecent exposure that took place in Glasgow's West End on the same day.

Two women were victim to the incidents on the afternoon of Saturday May 25.

The first incident took place around 2pm when a 54-year-old woman was walking from the underpass at St George's Cross underground, towards St George's Road.

She was confronted by a man who was carrying out an incident act on himself.

As she tried to pass the man, he grabbed her arm but she managed to make off towards the underground.

The man is described as white, 25-years-old, with untidy dark brown hair and was clean shaven.

He was wearing an olive coloured denim jacket, dark trousers and dark shoes.

The second incident happened around 4pm, when a 25-year-old woman was in Botanic Gardens, near to the Arboretum.

She was approached by a man who was also committing the same act but on this occasion no attempt was made to grab her.

The suspect is described as white, between 18 and 25 years, 5 ft 7 in height and light stubble.

He was wearing a dark coloured winter jacket, baseball cap and dark trousers.

Constable Daryl Haddow, Public Protection Unit, Greater Glasgow Police Division, said: “These incidents were very distressing for the women involved and we are trying to get as much information as we can to track the man or men involved.

“Officers have been checking CCTV in the area and from our enquiries so far we know that there was an older couple in the Botanic Gardens near to where the 25 year old woman was exposed to. They may have seen the incident or indeed may have seen the man hanging about the area either before or afterwards.

“Whether the two incidents are linked has still to be established. We would ask anyone who was in the area, who may have seen anything or have information that will assist our enquiries, to come forward.”
