Passengers travelling through Glasgow Queen Street Low Level have suffered major disruption today after overhead wires at a city centre station were damaged.

Engineers were called out to the tunnel between High Street and Queen Street this morning, and they are still on site six hours later.

The damage means services cannot run between Partick and Bellgrove, causing trains between Edinburgh and Helensburgh Central to terminate and start back from Bellgrove.

In the west of the city, services between Helensburgh Central and Edinburgh are terminating and starting again from Anniesland.

All services between Partick and Springburn have been suspended.

Scotrail say the repairs will continue until 4pm this afternoon and have put replacement bus services and ticket acceptance in place in the meantime.

Customers are advised to use Scotrail tickets and Smartcards on the subway network between Partick and St Enoch/Buchanan Street.

First Bus are also accepting tickets between Anniesland and Bellgrove/Springburn on services through Glasgow City Centre.

Three replacement buses have been put in place between Bellgrove and Anniesland, calling at High Street, Glasgow Queen Street, Charing Cross, Partick and Hyndland in both directions.
