POLICE investigating the disappearance of a 29-year-old woman have confirmed that a body has been recovered.

Billie Mia French Mullen went missing from the East Kilbride area on Saturday afternoon.

Police said that around 8pm, on Wednesday, the body of a woman was found within wooded area near to Lickprivick Road, East Kilbride. Ms Mullen's family have been informed, although formal identification is yet to take place.

Detectives are treating the death as unexplained.

A police spokeswoman said: "A formal identification has still to take place however the family of Ms Mullen has been informed about the recovery.

"A post mortem examination will take place to establish the exact cause of death and police are treating the death as unexplained at this time.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
