Customers found themselves asked to leave the train at Gretna station, just two hours after their services departed from Glasgow Central.

Replacement buses have been sourced between Dumfries and Carlisle, but some are not expected to arrive until around 1.45pm - over one hour after passengers were told to leave the train.

Disruption is set to last until around 2pm.

Signalling faults between Glasgow Central and London Euston also caused major delays this morning, with two busy services cancelled between the two stations.

The disruption comes just hours after users of the Caledonian Sleeper trains from London were met with a five-hour bus journey to Glasgow, after technical issues caused services to terminate early.
