THE mother of murdered girl Alesha MacPhail is planning a family fun day one year on from her daughter’s death.

Georgina Lochrane has told how little Alesha “loved these kinds of events” and “couldn't drag her away” from them.

Crowds at the event, to be held at The 33rd County in Coatbridge, have been told to expect inflatables, glitter stalls and face paint.

Speaking to Daily RecordGeorgina said: "Alesha loved these kinds of events. If I walked past fun days with her, I couldn’t drag her away.

"Everything we’ve planned for the day is something Alesha would have liked to do in her everyday life.

"She was always bouncing around, so we have inflatables. She loved playing with make-up so we have face paint, make-up and glitter stalls.

Glasgow Times:

"We have DJs coming, arts and crafts and raffles and lots more.

"Alesha had such a big personality and I feel like I’ve put her personality into the day with the activities she loved doing."

Teenager Aaron Campbell was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 27 years when he was convicted following a nine-day trial at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this year.

The 16-year-old snatched six-year-old Alesha from her bed at her grandparents’ home on the Isle of Bute last summer, raped and murdered her, and then dumped her body in nearby woodland.

In May, he was granted leave to appeal against his sentence, something Georgina has heavily criticised.
