A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy has been hospitalised after a serious road crash in Maybole.

The child was hit by a Vauxhall Corsa along Abbot Street at around 4.40pm on Tuesday, June 18.

Emergency services attended and the boy was taken to Crosshouse Hospital. He was then transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

The 48-year-old female driver was checked by paramedics at the scene but did not sustain any injury.

The road was closed for several hours as crash scene investigators examined the scene.

An investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident is underway and officers are appealing for anyone who may have information, and who have not yet spoken with police, to contact them.
