GLASGOW’S Savoy Centre is to host an event which encourages the public to release stress with laughter.

The UK’s first yoga studio specialising in laughter therapy is holding a free, family friendly event at COLAB, in the ground floor of the centre this Saturday.

Founded by Glaswegian Teresa Watson, the practice involving involuntary laughter, is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Studies have shown it can strengthens the immune system, reduces pain and lowers stress by triggering the release of endorphins.

She said: “Since I opened my studio at COLAB the feedback and encouragement I have received has been incredible.

“Glaswegians have a zest for life and laughter yoga is the perfect way to help you maintain a positive outlook.

“Our classes suits all ages and abilities and teaching a class suitable for babies and toddlers was always something I wanted to do.

“Saturday’s event will give families a taste of what’s involved and how it can benefit for the whole family.”

The event will be the official launch for a new series of baby and toddler laughter yoga sessions Teresa will be teaching at COLAB.

Families can also enjoy play and craft session with Carried Away Play, another Scottish based company who specialise in creative play sessions, events and parties for kids.

These free sessions will be running at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm and the COLAB market will be showcasing amily friendly brands and products including personalized signs for kids rooms, child friendly scent burners, handmade baby carriers and personalized lunchboxes.
