A woman returned from holiday to find her house had been broken into and a number of items were missing - including an engagement ring.

Valuables worth a four-figure sum were taken sometime between Tuesday, June 4 and Saturday, June 8 in Spiers Gait, Carluke.

Police are now appealing for information about a blue Ford Mondeo which was seen in the local area in the weeks leading up to the break-in.

They have also released images of some of the items stolen, which they say may have been sold on.

Constable Josh Ellwood, Lanark Police Office, said: “The householder has returned from a holiday to find that her property has been forced open and a number of valuable items have been stolen.

“Some of these items have great sentimental value, such as an engagement ring, and we will do everything we can to try and retrieve these belongings and trace those responsible.

"Some of these items may have been sold on and therefore we would ask people to look out for them, they include jewellery as well as designer trainers.

“Following enquiries we are also looking to find out more information about a blue coloured Ford Mondeo which was seen in the local area in the weeks leading up to the break-in.
