A DATE has been set for next year’s Taxi Trip to Troon which is an annual fundraising initiative organised by city cabbies.

The 75th annual Glasgow Taxi outing to Troon will take place on Wednesday, June 17, next year.

Earlier this week, more than 100 decorated taxis and dressed up drivers drove 300 city school children, who receive additional learning support, from Kelvin Way to Troon for an afternoon of fun and entertainment by the sea.

Treasurer of the outing Stephen Lalley said: “Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this year’s outing the best day ever. Thank you to our sponsors, to the police and to the police pipers, to the volunteers, the bus drivers, and the mini-van drivers. Thank you to the schools and most of all thank you to the wonderful children who just never stop smiling.

“A huge thank you to our drivers, without you quite simply the day couldn’t happen. And to the town of Troon – wow! – you all make the day the best it can be and we cannot thank you enough.

“Finally, we want to thank you for reading this and for following our trip this year, your continued support means a lot.

“Next year we will celebrate our 75th outing and the plans have already started – see you there. One day…with a lifetime of memories.”
