TWO thugs violently attacked a man who was heading to the supermarket.
Detectives investigating the serious assault said the 46-year-old victim was 'vulnerable'.
The victim, who suffered facial injuries, was making his way into Morrisons supermarket when he was approached by two men in the lane near to Adam Avenue, Airdrie. He was seriously assaulted at around 3.35pm on Sunday.
Emergency services were called and the was treated in hospital before being released.

Detective Constable Paul James, Coatbridge CID, said: “This was a violent attack on a vulnerable man and we are currently doing everything we can to trace those responsible.
“Officers are currently checking CCTV in the area, however, we would ask anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the incident to get in touch with us – you may have information that can help.
“The area would have been busy on Sunday afternoon with many people in Morrisons getting their shopping. Think back? Do you remember seeing anyone matching the descriptions?”

Police have described both suspects as being white and in their mid-20s. The first was around 5ft 10 inches and of heavy build with short black hair. He was wearing a black jumper, black jogging bottoms and black Adidas trainers.
The second suspect was around 5ft, of slim build and was wearing a blue tracksuit top, black Adidas joggings bottoms with white Adidas stripes on the side.
