A MEMORIAL will take place for fallen Glasgow soldier Gordon Gentle who died in the Iraq War 15 years ago.

Tragic Pollok lad Gordon was just 19 years old when he died after a bomb planted by the side of a road in Basra, Iraq was detonated as his Land Rover passed.

Private Gentle, who served with the Royal Highland Fusiliers, was straight out of basic training when he died in June, 2004.

A poignant ceremony will be held at Crookston Primary School tomorrow with his mum Rose, force pals and former school friends in attendance to celebrate his life.

A bench in his memory will also be unveiled with forces charity Ancre Somme Association Scotland hosting the event.

Tommy Davidson, ASA Scotland Secretary, said: "Our hope is that by bringing Gordon's memory alive, we can leave a legacy at the school, so that every generation will never forget this brave young lad. We will unveil a 'Lest We Forget' bench in his memory.

"This will allow other generations to remember his sacrafice."
