SHOWSTOPPING desserts and savoury treats created by Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown take centre stage on a new afternoon tea menu in Glasgow.

The Village Hotel Club at Festival Gate on the banks of the Clyde has launched its Afternoon ‘Par-tea’ menu, designed by the star.

The tasty line-up includes mini brioches filled with creamy egg mayonnaise and spinach, a roasted sweet potato, chorizo and red pepper tart, mini cornflake tarts with lemon curd, chocolate and orange scones and rhubarb and custard profiteroles.

Earlier this year Candice was announced as the company’s Food and Drink Ambassador. She will be working on its Hospitality Heroes mentoring scheme with each Village Hotel offering skills and mentoring for local college students.

General Manager Jamie Stevens said: “Our new Afternoon Par-tea menu is perfect for couples and groups to enjoy a leisurely Saturday afternoon.

“My personal favourite is probably the chocolate and orange scone, but it is a tough choice. I’m excited to see what our guests think.”

Prices start from £17.50 per person with tea and coffee, or customers can upgrade to include an alcoholic drink such as G&T or Aperol Spritz for £25, or a half bottle of Prosecco for £30.

To celebrate the launch, the Village Hotel Club is offering one pair of lucky locals the chance to try the new ‘par-tea’ menu this Saturday.
