THIEVES have allegedly been raiding derelict theme park Loudoun Castle in Ayrshire.

Cops said they have reported 23 people to the Procurator Fiscal for theft related offences including housebreaking.

The force spotted an increase of people visiting the disused theme park over the last five weeks and blamed social media for curiousity over what the site looks like now. They issued a warning to target those involved in "suspicious behaviour".

Old images of the park after it closed

Sergeant Craig Wallace said: "I am aware of photos of the theme park which has been circulating on social media from a few years ago.

"These photos show the disused attractions and I believe that many of the visitors are curious to what the park looks like now, however, some are allegedly breaking into property and committing other alleged offences.

"All of the rides have now been dismantled and removed from the site.

"In addition, parts of the site are unsafe and have been fenced off to ensure safety. I would advise people not to visit the estate."

The theme park opened in 1995 offering rides including Gold Rush and Twist n Shout rollercoasters.

It closed in 2010 with owners saying it was no longer economically viable.
