THE Cure closed the Glastonbury music festival in spectacular style - giving fans an idea of what they can expect from the band's Glasgow show.

The band, fronted by Robert Smith, will play the Glasgow Summer Sessions at Bellahouston Park on Friday, August 16 fresh off their Glastonbury appearance.

The show will be their first Scottish gig in 27 years. The Cure’s appearance at Glasgow Summer Sessions is also part of a very select and special run of headline spots at major festivals all over the world during 2019 to celebrate a career now entering its 5th decade.

With so much buzz about that Glastonbury performance, we have everything you need to know about their Scottish show.

Mogwai

Who is supporting The Cure?

Scottish rockers Mogwai will support The Cure in their hometown. The Glasgow band are best known for Take Me Somewhere Nice, Kids Will be Skeletons and Hungry Face. The Twilight Sad and The Joy Formidable will also perform at the show.

Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, previously said: “When The Cure last played Scotland in 1992, I went to all four shows (Dundee, Glasgow and twice in Edinburgh), skiving school at least once. If I’d known that the wait to see them play here again would be so long, I’d have been very shocked.

"I’d have been even more shocked but more so delighted that I’d be in a band opening for them 27 years later. I’m beyond excited and honoured to be part of this bill. The Cure are my favourite band and getting to play with them in our home town alongside our great friends The Twilight Sad is something really special.”
