A NEW app has launched in Glasgow to help parents spend time with their children.

Dribble, which is already a hit in Edinburgh, aims to help parents to find local child-friendly places in their surrounding area. Described as a ‘family-friendliness review app’ akin to Tripadvisor, parents can search everything they need to know about a venue

as well as read reviews of venues by fellow parents. Dribble is free to download and allows the user to personalise the results to preference.

Gill Mudie, Dribble creator, said she noticed a gap in the app-market in Scotland after she had her first child.

“I was lucky not to suffer from post-natal depression after my children, but that’s not to say

that you’re still not anxious or self-conscious when you first kick off”, Gill said.

“‘Anxiety’ is a word that was used a lot when you’re going out with your kids. I wanted to take my kids to a place that was accessible, and when I had my second child, although I was confident as a mum,

I had more logistical issues to think about.

“What we’re trying to focus on is giving people the information they need to make an informed choice on what is best for their family.”

Lindsay Arthur, from Bishopbriggs, is a mum of three children under four.

“I’m always on the lookout for something different to do on our days together. We love outdoor activities and crafting but sometimes it’s difficult to find something suitable for the older ones that has facilities for the baby too.

“The Dribble app allows me to filter the venues by location, facilities and even places that have good coffee (essential at the moment!). Another great use for the app is to find places to meet up with groups of parents, knowing that there’ll be plenty of room for us and the buggies!”

Users can also allow the app to ‘inspire’ them, directing them to new places further afield.

Dribble is also in partnership with many local and independent Glasgow retailers, including the likes of the Glasgow Science centre.

Gerry McCann, Glasgow Science Centre’s customer experience manager, said: “We are always exploring ways to make Glasgow Science Centre an even more enjoyable visit for all the family.

“By working with Dribble, and a host of other partners, we can help break down any barriers for people coming through our doors.”
