UPDATE: Police and coastguard try to save man in River Clyde
A HUGE rescue operation was launched this morning after reports a person fell into the River Clyde.
The alarm was raised at 4.30pm, and police, firefighters and the coastguard responded.
Police Scotland has yet to make a statement but their officers remain at the Broomielaw in an area cordoned off at the water. In a separate cordon, cops have locked down the Euro Hostel on Clyde Street. It is not known yet if the two incidents are connected.

One Twitter user said: "Massive police presence on Broomielaw. Police tape from the street down to the Clyde bagging up evidence from the street.
HM Coastguard confirmed that they sent rescue teams from Greenock and Helensburgh.
Both Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
