Tributes have poured in for a popular teenage girl who has been tragically killed in an alleged hit and run in Paisley.

Robyn Fryar, 15, died in hospital after she was struck by a car in the town's Glenburn Road, near Fereneze Drive, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

She was crossing the road with four friends when tragedy struck. Emergency services rushed the teenager by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she died a short term later.

Glasgow Times:

One friend Abigail Anna Ferguson lead the tributes on social media for the popular teenager.

She said: "I never thought this would ever happen, especially to you.

"You’ve been my best friend and one of the only people who have stuck by me through everything.

"Your an amazing, unbelievable person who I never deserved to have in my life.

"You were my best friend and I’ll never find anyone like you.

"You were taken too soon and I’ll always miss you, thank you for everything. I love you."

Amy Pursley added: "Rest in peace Robyn. Always a happy go lucky girlie and you'll always be remembered! Such a cruel world this is."

Emma-Louise McGoldrick said: "Can’t believe it, what a heart of gold this little angel had every time I spoke to her. Fly high pretty angel."

A former teacher said it was a privilege to teach Robyn at Todholm Primary School. It is understood that she attended St Andrew's Academy. 

Glasgow Times:

Flowers were laid at the scene by the devastated community who were coming to terms with the tragedy. 

Police confirmed that a 20-year-old had been arrested as their investigation continued. 

The road, which is lined with 1970s houses beside a grassy embankment, was cordoned off with police cars and a van stationed nearby.

Specialist police officers trained to investigate collisions could be seen putting down plastic marker cones over an area measuring around 30 yards.

The force also said that they were supporting Robyn's family.
