A COMMUNITY has started fundraising to help the devastated family of a security guard who was tragically found dead at Glastonbury music festival.

Popular Martin Fallone, 64, was discovered in his tent at Worthy Farm on Sunday, June 30.

The dad-of-two and grandad, from Faifley, near Clydebank, was one of 25 security officers who had been provided for the festival by G42.

It is understood that Mr Fallone was working night shifts during the five-day event and that he died of natural causes.

A JustGiving page has been set up to support his family with his funeral.

Karen King, who is behind the fundraiser, said: "To say the family is devastated would be an understatement. His family is broken.

"To be going through a loss of a loved one, who‘s untimely passing while in another country takes things to another level.

"This page is to help raise funds to help the family out. Funeral and all the other costs at this time are going to be extortionate.

"Let's help them as best we can as a community."

The page has received over £600 in donations so far.

One well-wisher said: "Martin was a lovely man and a great neighbour to our family."

Another, who attend the music festival, added: "So sorry to hear. We were at Glastonbury and were very sad to hear this news on leaving the festival on Monday. I hope he rests in peace and sending love to his family at this time."

The Daily Record reports that Somerset coroner Tony Williams said that the death had been reported to his office and is subject to an ongoing investigation.

No inquest has yet been opened into his death.

A spokesman for G4S said: “At 5pm on Sunday, June 30, one of our employees was found dead in his tent at Glastonbury Festival, where he had been working as a security officer.

“The next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police added: “We were made aware of the sudden death of a man in his 60s on one of the campsites at Glastonbury Festival.

“Officers attended and are satisfied the man’s death is not suspicious. The coroner has been informed.”
