A FIRE has broken out in a Kilwinning pub.

Fire crews are currently on the scene battling the blaze at Decantors next door to Aldo's Fish and Chip shop.

Our sister title the Irvine Times' shocking video shows the old pub go up in flames this afternoon sparking the emergency response.

It is not known if there are any casualties at this time.

Byres Road has been closed off and cars and buses have been diverted through the town.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "About 1.13pm on Wednesday, July 10, Police Scotland were alerted by Scottish Fire and Rescue to reports of a building fire at Byres Road, Kilwinning. 

"Officers are currently at the scene assisting with traffic control in the area."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 1.09pm on Wednesday, July 10 to reports of a fire within a vacant building on Byres Road, Kilwinning, North Ayrshire.

"Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and firefighters worked to extinguish the fire which had taken hold within the one-and-a-half storey building.

"There were no reported casualties.

"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
