GLASGOW and its surrounding areas are being urged to prepare for thunderstorms and heavy rain.
A Met Office yellow “be aware” warning has been declared for much of the country from noon on Thursday until 9pm.
The weather service has said heavy showers and thunderstorms could cause travel disruption and flooding in places during the afternoon and evening.

The public is being urged to expect a chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes.
Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is also a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
A weather warning is in place for thunderstorms from 12 noon til 9pm on Thurs 11 July covering most of the country. Again, the risk is lightning strikes & localised flooding.

There is a slight chance power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.

Finally, the Met Office said there is a small chance of fast flowing or deep flood water causing danger to life.
