POLICE and fire crews have rushed to a van blaze just off the M8 in Glasgow.

The incident has taken place on Baird Street.

Videos posted on social media show officers directing traffic as flames leap and smoke billows from a vehicle in the background.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 3.53pm on Thursday, July 11 to reports of a van on fire on Baird Street, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised an aerial appliance to the scene and firefighters extinguished the flames.

 “There were no reported casualties.

 “Crews currently remain on scene as they work to make the area safe.”
