Flowers have been attached to the nearby lamposts in a touching tribute with notes to remember Margaret.

One read: “Rest in peace Margaret. A very special lady. We’ll miss you. Always in our thoughts.”

Another said: “Our hearts are saddened by your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with you”.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has now been released pending further enquiries.

Police have issued an appeal for information, and are urging a white van driver to come forward with any insight into the incident.

Sergeant Nikki Taylor, of Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area yesterday afternoon and saw a quad bike being driven so we can establish exactly what happened.”

She said a white van was seen in the street at the time of the incident and it is hoped the driver may be able to assist inquiries by providing an eyewitness account.

Officers are also keen to speak to any drivers or cyclists who may have dashcam or video footage of the incident.

Ms Taylor added: “We know there was a white van in the street at the time of the incident and we would appeal to the driver to get in touch as they may have vital information.

“You may also have dashcam or home CCTV that can help us, so please look back. We urge you to get in touch.”

The road was closed to traffic for nearly five hours while police carried out investigations.
