SOULFUL Emeli Sande saved the day by filling in for sick Jess Glynne - but really the homecoming gig should have been hers all along.

Dressed in a casual sundress, and sporting blonde curls the singer screamed: “Glasgow! It’s so good to be home. Thanks for having me.”

The star then belted out anthems Hurts, and Highs and Lows.

She beamed: “I’m so excited to be here. The sun is shining.”

'Thursday' star Glynne was due to appear today but was forced to cancel last-minute after suffering a vocal haemorrhage.

The gig was called off on doctor's orders and TRNSMT called on homegrown talent for the occasion.

But Scot Emeli proved she is no stand-in as she belted out the power ballad My Kind of Love which she dedicated to Glasgow.

The 32-year-old singer said: “When things got difficult I felt your love everytime I came here.

“There are not many places in the world where I can say I love your kind of love.”

New tracks Survivor and You Are Not Around gave fans a glimpse of things to come from the singer’s new album Real Life, out in September.

But the festival crowd were calling for the hits she is best known for - and Read All About It created a huge Glasgow Green sing along.
