TWO deputy headteachers have been appointed by a Colwyn Bay school.

Rydal Penrhos school has confirmed that Gabriella Murphy and Phil Sutton have been appointed to leadership positions.

Mrs Murphy is currently head of lower school and will lead on pupils’ progress and wellbeing.

She has worked in the school for a number of years and has a degree in biblical studies from the University of Sheffield.

Mr Sutton will be responsible for the quality of teaching and learning. Following a degree in engineering from the University of Leeds, he worked in industry for six year before making a career change and become a teacher.

Mr Sutton has taught design technology for more than 15 years, most recently as head of department at Rydal Penrhos.

Executive principal John Waszek, said: “It is through the staff of the school that our pupils are kept safe, encouraged and enabled to thrive. Consequently, we attach the greatest importance to our recruitment of teaching and support staff who, individually and collectively, have the biggest impact on the pupils.”
