A furious Glasgow mum has blasted "idiots" for leaving broken glass lying around a BMX track - as her son suffered bloody injuries after falling off his bike onto the shards.

Jacqueline Macleod, 38, was irate after seven-year-old Sam had to have broken glass picked out of his hands after the fall on Saturday afternoon.

Raging Jacqueline snapped at the neds for leaving cracked bottles around Knightswood BMX track and warned that more youngsters face painful injuries if nothing is done to crack down on yobs.

She said: "I'm really angry. Absolutely furious.

"He went round and came off the bike and I've went to help and seen all the blood and glass.

"A lot of blood came from the wound.

"It's just absolute idiots who leave this stuff lying about, it was a lot of glass.

"They obviously just don't care."

The amount of blood from the cut left Jacqueline terrified for her son's safety and she admitted to being worried that she was initially unable to tell what he had hurt.

But worry turned to relief that it was just a flesh wound to his hand that Sam suffered - and not anything worse.

She said: "I got a real fright. He hurt his side the way he went down and obviously held onto it when he got up.

"Then I spotted the blood coming from his T-shirt and I thought something worse had happened.

"It could've been much worse, it could've went anywhere, he was so lucky it hit where it did because it was quite a thick piece of glass."

Schoolboy Sam was left with minor injuries following the tumble but has been put off using the park again.

Jacqueline continued: "He's already said he won't be going back to the park.

"He actually said he doesn't want to go on his bike again but hopefully that will change."

A fourth responded: "Things like that make me mad."
