But even as the thunder is expected to subside, another yellow weather warning for rain has been put in place for Sunday from 6pm until Monday morning at 6am.
Flooding may occur in some areas.
The weather may cause travel chaos and Greenock Costguard team have issued a plea for people across the West of Scotland to stay safe.
The public is being urged to expect a chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes.
Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is also a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
