A MAN has been rushed to hospital in Glasgow after being attacked in the city's East End. 

The 23-year-old, who was walking alone in Riddrie was given treatment for serious head and facial injuries. 

The incident, which happened in Gartcraig Road near to the bookmakers shop, saw the man approached by a man and a woman. 

Words were exchanged between them before he was attacked by being kicked and punched and his head was stamped on.

The couple responsible were last seen making off in the direction of Warriston Street.

After being taken to hospital and treated, the 23-year-old man was released. 

Police are now appealing to the public for any information on the attack. 

Officers are currently carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the local area and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the man and woman involved.

Desriptions of the pair have also been released. The man is described as wearing dark clothing and the woman is described as having dark hair, wearing dark clothing, a baseball cap and hooped earrings.

Detective Sergeant Colin Thapar, added: "Gartcraig Road is a busy road and I am sure there would have been other people in the area or motorists driving past.

If you recognise the description of the man and woman or have dashcam footage of the incident please get in touch as soon as possible."
