AN ANNUAL off-road athletics event comprised of swimming, biking and running will take place in the Wee County this September.

The Harviestoun Triathlon is set to return for its third year on Saturday, September 7.

There will be three courses to choose from to suit different fitness levels, with the finish line at Dollar Academy.

The novice course will only feature a short 150m swim, 8k off-road bike ride and a 2k flat run.

At the extreme end of the fitness spectrum, the long route involves a 1k swim, 17.5k off-road bike ride and a 9k hill run – featuring King's Seat hill above Dollar.

Most of the course is on land owned by Harviestoun Estate, which received thanks from organisers for their support.

The triathlon is in aid of Jo's Trust, a Dollar charity group that raises funds for the brain cancer arm of Cancer Research UK.

It is named after Joanna Morgan Jones, who sadly passed because of the condition at the age of just 42.
