A thug armed with metal pole who chased an axe-wielding yob through Glasgow's Tollcross area may face jail.

Jack Mackenzie, 18, armed himself with a pole as he chased Jack Andrews through a residential area in December last year.

Andrews himself was holding an axe at the time that he had previously used to threaten Mackenzie as part of a larger group earlier in the evening.

The former is currently serving a 16 month prison sentence for his involvement.

He claimed the gang were smoking in his grandmother's close.

Mackenzie pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to acting in a threatening and abusive manner and possession of the pole.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “The group ran away from Andrews but Mackenzie ran back with a pole in his right hand above his head.

“They exchanged words and Mackenzie ran towards Tollcross Road.”

Footage was captured by a member of the public in his car who described the incident as “like gymnastics.”

It was shown in court today.

Mackenzie was arrested by police at his home in nearby Culrain Street.

Sheriff Martin Jones deferred sentence until tomorrow.
