The name of a woman who died after a crash on the A82 road in Dumbarton has been released. 

Theresa John, from the Dumbarton area, has been identified as the victim of the collision. 

The 67-year-old woma was the passenger of a car involved in the crash.

She was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where she died of her injuries.

Police have said a 74-year-old man was driving a Land Rover car eastbound on the A82 Stirling to Dumbarton Road. 

Reports suggest that at a point near to Dunbritton Road the vehicle went out of control, crossed the central reservation and struck a Volkswagen Passat car being driven in the opposite direction.

The 74-year-old=was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was treated for injuries which were not believed to be serious. 

The 53-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was treated at the scene for his injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

Police in Dumbarton previously announced they are carrying out an investigation into the crash and appealing for information.

They are looking for any witnesses to this incident, or anyone driving on this road around the time of the crash who has dash-cam footage, to contact police as a matter of urgency.
