TWO police officers suffered cuts to the face during a call out to a disturbance in Govanhill.

As told earlier this week in the Evening Times, cops were called out just before 11pm on Saturday, July 20 to a disturbance in a flat on Coplaw Street.

Initially, Police Scotland said a 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident but gave no further details.

It has now emerged two police constables - one man and one woman - were injured with lacerations to the face.

Both were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

The male police officer had a laceration above his eye and needed stitches.

The female officer had cuts to her nose.

Both were released from hospital following treatment.

The 31-year-old man appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with the incident.

He was charged with theft and assault, made no plea and was remanded in custody.
