A representative of Rangers has paid tribute to fan Gregor Gibbons after it was announced a body had been found during a search. 

Mr Gibbons has been missing since being last seen on July 2, 2019. 

Police announced that a body was recovered by officers investigating his disappearance in the River Kelvin close to Dullatur Bridge at around 11am on Friday.

Mr Gibbons' family have been informed, although cops have not confirmed the identity of the body.

Following tributes from friends and family, Rangers have posted a message on social media. 

The club have been very involved in the search for Gregor. 

Thousands of fans were shown an image of Gregor at Rangers v Oxford United last week. 

Rangers hero Nacho Novo had also got behind the search for Gregor, sharing an appeal on his social media pages.

Taking to social media, Rangers Supporter Liason Officer Greg Marshall said: "Heartbreaking news today regarding Gregor Gibbons.

"The thoughts of all the Rangers family are with his loved ones.

"A die-hard Rangers fan, Gibby was always a pleasure to speak to.

"A tragic loss #OneofOurOwn."
