Two teenagers were left with serious injuries after they were pounced upon by a large gang in Balloch.

The victims, two males aged 16 and 19, were in Balloch Country Park when they were approached by the group at around 5pm on Tuesday July 23.

The younger of the two was punched several times in the face by the group, which is thought to have contained around 10-15 youths, before he managed to escape towards the water.

When trying to help his friend, the other victim was struck on the head with a brick.

The group quickly ran off, leaving the two injured teens to make their way to the train station and then attend Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

They were treated for their injuries before being discharged.

Police are now searching for the attackers, and are appealing to members of the public who assisted in the first assault.

Detective Constable Geoff McKillop at Clydebank said: “This was a totally unprovoked attacked which has left two young men with serious injuries which require further medical treatment and therefore it is vital that we trace those responsible for such reckless conduct.
