A PROPOSAL has been put forward for a new gym within a retail park in Glasgow's South Side.
A planning application was submitted on July 3 for JD Gyms in Auldhouse Retail Park. The facility on Nether Auldhouse Road has a range of retailers including Homebase, Home Bargains, Aldi, Archers, Pets at Home, Harry Corry and Carpetright.
The application is asking for permission for the unit to be used as a gym. Drawing with the application show the JD Gyms branding. JD Gyms offer low-cost membership. There is currently a JD Gym in Craigmont Drive, Maryhill.
The planning application states that the retail park was purchased in 2016 and the new owners have been rolling out a programme of improvements to upgrade and modernise the facility.

The proposal states that the gym would be based in a Homebase unit.
The statement said: "The key purpose of this proposal is the facilitate the downsizing of the Homebase unit.
"As widely reported, Homebase has been struggling and in 2018 announced the closure of 42 stores in the UK and 10 in Scotland, leaving just seven stores in Scotland.
"In order to protect the store at Auldhouse Retail Park, an agreement was made with the owners to downsize the unit to 25,500sq.ft (2368sq.m).
"This agreement has allowed a new deal to be structured with the owners and allow the store to continue trading."
If approved the new gym would be over two levels.
